The Family Dinner

Myself a huge believer in family dinners, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this book while browsing Anthropologie last week.  And then the same week, I caught the author, Laurie David, promoting it on Martha Stewart.  Not just a cookbook,  the book includes ideas for conversations, sharing family stories, games and family involvement in the meal.  "Research has proven that everything we worry about as parents—from drugs to alcohol, promiscuity, to obesity, academic achievement and just good old nutrition— can all be improved by the simple act of eating and talking together around the table."

Also be sure to check out the accompanying website.  A favorite feature from the Table Talk page is the Huffpost Dinner Download.  The Family Dinner has teamed with the Huffington Post to highlight a compelling news topic each week, with questions that promote discussion among the family. This is such good stuff and I will definitely be adding The Family Dinner to my evening repertoire.
